Cloud County approves Wagon Road bridge agreement, hires corrections officer and moves $2,800 to safety fund

The Cloud County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement for Project No. 15 C-5399-01 (off-system bridge replacement on Wagon Road), hired a new corrections officer effective March 2 and transferred $2,800 in windfarm funds to the County Safety fund during its Feb. 17 meeting.
The Cloud County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 17 approved an agreement for Project No. 15 C-5399-01 to replace an off-system bridge 1,000 feet west of 100th Road on Wagon.
Commissioner Ron Copple moved to enter the agreement; Commissioner Dannie Kearn seconded, and the motion passed unanimously with Chairman Michael Cleveland also voting in favor. Andy Asch and John Markel of Kirkham & Micheal discussed the bridge and a related change order during the meeting; the board did not take action on the change order at that time.
The board also moved on personnel and funding matters. On a unanimous vote the board approved hiring Branden Smith as a Corrections Officer (H1), effective March 2, 2026. The board acknowledged classification changes for Nikole Underwood (Corrections II, E2 to H2) and DeLisa Osborn (Corrections II, E1 to H1), effective Feb. 9, 2026.
Commissioners approved transferring $2,800 in windfarm funds to the County Safety fund by unanimous vote. The board additionally approved payroll expenses totaling $187,116.81 and recorded payroll deductions and benefits of $225,139.25. The Feb. 9, 2026 minutes were approved as presented and the meeting adjourned at 12:18 p.m.
The bridge agreement approved carries the project identifier Project No. 15 C-5399-01 and will be administered as an off-system bridge replacement; the change order discussed at the meeting was not finalized and may return to the board for future action.
