Murray County appoints Extension Committee member and approves intent to hire deputy sheriff

Murray County commissioners on June 17 appointed Sharon Staples to the Extension Committee to complete a three-year term ending January 2027. Three applicants were listed for the vacancy: Sharon Staples, Regan Mouw and Lisa Ackerman. The motion to appoint Staples was moved by Jackie Meier, seconded by Loy Woelber and passed.
The board also approved an intent to hire Marcus Feit as deputy sheriff. The minutes record that Feit graduated from Minnesota West Community and Technical College for Law Enforcement, completed a satisfactory criminal background check and a psychological evaluation required by the conditional job offer. The intent-to-hire statement was approved to support submission of a POST licensure application; the board recorded that Feit's employment start date would be on or around June 23, 2025. The motion to approve the intent to hire was moved by Loy Woelber, seconded by Roger Zins and passed.
