The board approved an amended job description for an Economic Development & Marketing Coordinator, moving forward with advertising the 40‑hour position that will include both economic development and marketing responsibilities and emphasize working with Murray County cities. Personnel committee comments recommended involving department heads and city officials in the interview process to help shape hiring decisions; county HR Director/Deputy Administrator Sharon Giese said the county hopes to have someone hired by early 2026.
On appointments, the board approved recommending that Judge Christina Wietzema appoint Mike Carlson and Jay Mickelson to the Red Rock Rural Water System (RRRWS) board for four‑year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2026 and expiring Dec. 31, 2029.
The board also approved an intent‑to‑hire statement for Johnathon Reim as deputy sheriff, pending satisfactory physical and background checks; the hiring was described as necessary to return the Sheriff’s Department to full staffing and to support regular representation at city council meetings and water patrols next summer.
All motions were approved by board vote; formal appointment to the RRRWS board is made by the district court judge per the statutory appointment process.
