Murray County drainage authority sets 2026 ditch levies, approves ditch fund budget

Acting as the Murray County Drainage Authority, the board adopted Resolution 2025-12-30-01 to set the 2026 special-assessment levies for numerous county and judicial ditches and approved the 2026 ditch fund budget.
Commissioner Jackie Meier presented the resolution, which records individual levies for designated ditches and was supported by the board. County staff provided the ditch fund budget tables showing special assessments budgeted at $1,169,716, total ditch fund revenues of $1,192,691, and expenditures of $859,688. The budget anticipates adding $372,503 to the ditch fund balance after collections and payments.
Board discussion clarified that two projects (Ditch 41 and a County Ditch 22 improvement) were not included in the adopted budget and will be financed through bond issuance and special assessments; Ditch 41 is expected to be under construction in 2026, with bid packages to be issued early in the year.
The resolution passed unanimously.
