Murray County Board adopts online posting for claims and audits, approves licenses and hiring

At its Jan. 6 meeting the Murray County Board adopted a series of financial and procedural resolutions and approved routine license renewals and appointments.
Resolutions: The board adopted Resolution 2026-01-06-02 to use the Murray County website as the primary posting location for itemized claims paid, and Resolution 2026-01-06-03 to post the county audit and audited financial statements on the county website with hard copies available at the Auditor-Treasurer's Office; both resolutions passed unanimously. Commissioner Zins said the change was made after a cost analysis and at the State Auditor’s Office recommendation that the county notify the public of its intent.
The board also adopted Resolution 2026-01-06-01, per Minnesota Statutes 375.16 and 375.18, authorizing the Auditor/Treasurer to pay certain incidental claims and to follow internal accounting procedures, with distribution of claim lists to the board and Chair signature as a control.
Licenses and permits: The board approved a seasonal on-and-off sale and Sunday liquor license for Jaroskelly, LLC d/b/a Trails Edge (season 4-1-2026 to 11-30-2026) and approved tobacco license renewals for multiple county establishments contingent on required paperwork. The board approved a Local Unit of Government Acknowledgment (Form LG220) for the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 322 for a bingo event Feb. 22, 2026 at the Currie American Legion and waived township acknowledgment.
Appropriations and hiring: The board reviewed the 2026 appropriations list (requested total $537,214.75) and approved it while omitting a one-time $22,886 appropriation for the Southwest Adult Mental Health Consortium at Commissioner Jackie Meier’s request. The board approved the hiring of Robert Zietlow as a Highway Maintenance Worker pending background check and union pay-grade determination. The board also approved the Murray County Wheel Herald as the legal publication for 2026 at $11.50 per column inch.
