Board signs acknowledgement for U.S. Fish & Wildlife habitat easement on Kramer property

SLAYTON, Minn. — The Murray County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 27 approved a certification of acknowledgment for a U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service habitat easement covering parts of Section 29 in T.108N R.39W, 5th P.M., owned by Donald Kramer et al.
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service representatives Jacob Gross and John Beyer presented the easement and told the board the landowner would retain the right to harvest hay and would receive a one-time payment from the agency. They said any changes to county tile would be coordinated with Murray County and that the county assessor will determine whether the easement affects assessed value.
The board voted to sign the certification so it may be submitted to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Land Exchange Board for review and approval. A public hearing will be scheduled after a work plan is completed and required survey work is finished.
What the easement covers: presenters described the easement as applying to parts of W2NE4 and E2SE4 of Section 29; the final boundaries are to be determined by survey.
