Buffalo County board ratifies payroll, vendor claims, authorizes foreclosures and backs BEAD broadband support

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners handled routine fiscal and administrative business at its April 22 meeting, approving payroll and vendor claims, authorizing foreclosure on delinquent tax-sale certificates, and taking a position in favor of a state broadband grant project.
The board ratified April 18, 2025 payroll claims after a motion by Commissioner Ronald Loeffelholz, seconded by Commissioner Ivan Klein. It also approved April 2025 vendor claims and a transfer of $25,000 from the General Fund to the Weed District Fund (moved by Higgins, seconded by Lynch).
The board voted to authorize County Attorney Shawn Eatherton to proceed with foreclosure and sale of tax-sale certificates that have been delinquent for three years under Neb. Rev. Stat. §§77-1901 through 77-1918 (Resolution 2025-22; motion by Klein, seconded by Loeffelholz).
The board accepted Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska’s March 2025 RYDE report (motion by Lynch, seconded by Klein); the vote recorded one abstention by Commissioner Myron Kouba. The board also approved Premier Bank as a county depository (motion by Lynch, seconded by Loeffelholz) and approved a letter of support to the Nebraska Broadband Office for the BEAD Project (motion by Higgins, seconded by Klein).
