Buffalo County commissioners approve payroll and vendor claims, appoint officials and set gravel bid date

At its Jan. 28 meeting, the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners handled routine county business including payroll, vendor claims, appointments and budget transfers.
The board ratified payroll processed Jan. 24 and approved the county’s January vendor claims (a multi‑fund listing presented by the County Clerk). The board also approved a transfer of $387,622.35 from the General Fund to the Inheritance Fund, and approved the Application of Depositories for County Monies for First Interstate Bank.
Personnel and administrative actions included re‑appointing Paul Farrell as the county IT director for 2025 and appointing Tim Kreutzer to a three‑year term on the Planning and Zoning Commission. The board accepted the Buffalo County Treasurer Semi‑Annual Report and the December 2024 Community Action R.Y.D.E. Report (the latter passed with one abstention by Commissioner Myron Kouba). The board also accepted the 2024 Weed Control Annual Report following a presentation by Weed Superintendent Bret Stubbs.
On road matters, the board acknowledged receipt of a Road Maintenance petition for Spruce Hollow West Second Subdivision and forwarded the petition to Highway Superintendent John Maul for a study and a report back within 30 days. The board set the bid date for 2025–2026 gravel contracts for Feb. 25, 2025 at 9:00 A.M.
Facilities Director Stephen Gaasch reviewed current county construction projects during the regular agenda. During citizens forum Tom McCoy noted that Veteran Service Officer Kollin Forney had completed his training. The meeting adjourned at 11:02 A.M.; the next regular session is Feb. 11, 2025 at 9:00 A.M.
