Buffalo County commissioners ratify payroll, approve vendor claims and add bank collateral

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners ratified payroll processed Feb. 20, 2026 and approved county vendor claims for February on motions that passed unanimously.
The Board voted to add pledged collateral for the Buffalo County Treasurer at two banks: $1,300,000 at Nebraskaland Bank (motion by Timothy Higgins, seconded by Daniel Lynch) and $4,193.94 at Firstier Bank (motion by Timothy Higgins, seconded by Ivan Klein). Both motions carried with all members voting Aye.
During the Regular Agenda the Board approved writing off an uncollectable account for vehicle owner Brett Shields in the amount of $99.84, moved by Bill Maendele and seconded by Timothy Higgins.
The minutes record detailed payroll and vendor claim line items across county funds; the general fund net payroll is recorded as $377,967.28. The Board also determined that a proposed funds transfer agenda item was not necessary for this month.
