Buffalo County commissioners appoint Jennifer M. Schleusener as Register of Deeds after Kellie John’s death

On a motion by Bill Maendele, seconded by Daniel Lynch, the Board approved Resolution 2026-07 appointing Jennifer M. Schleusener as Buffalo County Register of Deeds, effective immediately with the term expiring Jan. 7, 2027. The motion carried with all commissioners voting Aye.
Resolution 2026-07, adopted at the meeting, cites Sec. 32-560 and Sec. 32-563 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes as the basis for filling a vacancy in a county-elected office and notes that Schleusener had fulfilled the functions of the office as deputy since the death of Kellie S. John.
Jennifer M. Schleusener thanked the Board during Citizen’s Forum following the appointment.
The Board placed a copy of the press release and the resolution on file with the County Clerk. No further action on the position was scheduled in the minutes; the appointment runs through the remainder of the current term.
