Planning Commission recommends Designated Growth Area including Keysville

The Charlotte County Planning Commission on Jan. 15 recommended approval of a Comprehensive Plan amendment to create a Designated Growth Area (DGA) encompassing the Town of Keysville and surrounding unincorporated land.
County staff presented the proposed change and explained that a DGA identifies areas intended to accommodate future growth and aligns with Section 4, Land Use, of the Comprehensive Plan. Staff emphasized that designating a DGA would not alter existing zoning districts or town boundaries.
There were no public comments during the hearing. Following staff remarks, Commissioner Andrew Carwile moved to recommend approval of the amendment as presented; Kerwin Kunath seconded the motion and it passed with all members present voting yes.
The recommendation will be transmitted to the Board of Supervisors for further consideration and any required legislative steps.
