Charlotte County Electoral Board confirms equipment insurance, polling-site fixes and readiness ahead of November election

The Charlotte County Electoral Board met at the Registrar’s Office on Oct. 2, 2019, and heard from Registrar Nan Lambert that the county’s voting equipment is insured while at precincts and that testing shows the machines are ready for November’s election.
Registrar Nan Lambert told the Board that after contacting Norma Tuck and the insurer, there is "full coverage of the equipment no matter its location," and that Logic & Accuracy testing had been completed as scheduled, with "all machines 'ready to go.'" The statements were made during the Board's review of old-business items.
Board members agreed to visit their assigned precincts on Oct. 30 to verify sites are prepared for Election Day; members may ask the Registrar to contact precinct officials in advance to ensure access. Lambert also said the alternative voting room identified for the Bacon/Saxe precinct is usable provided a small ramp is installed from the porch to the doorsill and perimeter furniture is moved; she and Chair Glenwood Foster said they had received assurances those items will be addressed before the election.
On administrative matters, Secretary Robert Bradner said he will draft a letter to Administrator Witt asserting that Registrar Nan Lambert is a county department head who acts with the Board's advice and consent and should be treated with the same weight as other department heads; the draft will be circulated to Board members and Lambert for approval before it is sent.
Lambert also requested assistance recruiting additional Officers of Election for three precincts—Bacon/Saxe, Cullen/Red House and Wylliesburg—for the November election. She clarified the county's rules for candidate poll watchers, saying they may not sit at the poll workers' table, sit behind poll workers, or view poll books; watchers should be seated so they can see poll workers' faces and may ask a poll worker to clarify a name when there is a lull in voter traffic.
The Board approved the minutes of its Sept. 4, 2019 meeting on a motion by Vice‑Chair Lawrence Clark, seconded by Chair Glenwood Foster, and adjourned on a motion by Secretary Robert Bradner, seconded by Vice‑Chair Lawrence Clark; both actions passed without dissent.
