The Charlotte County Electoral Board on Aug. 9, 2019 heard that demonstrations of a Demtech voting machine on Aug. 7 produced no reported problems. Vice-Chair Lawrence Clark reported that two demonstrations had been witnessed by Board members and by Ms. Lambert and that no problems were seen; the Board agreed to observe other products before making any procurement decision.
Separately, the Registrar reported she will collect information from other registrars about stipends paid to poll workers and will present findings at the Board’s September meeting. The Registrar also said she had not yet met with the county maintenance supervisor regarding handling voting machines during transport on election day and will report back at the September meeting.
No procurement decision or formal vote on equipment was recorded; the Board’s notes indicate it is continuing to compare options and will gather more information before a final decision.
