The Charlotte County Electoral Board discussed potential alternate polling places for the November election and agreed on follow-up steps to test a local alternative.
Board members reviewed site visits to Bacon District School, an additional room at the present precinct and New Hope Methodist Church. They determined Bacon District School currently presented too many obstacles to be feasible. New Hope Methodist Church was noted as an “extraordinary facility” but was described as less centrally located than the present precinct.
The board directed Chair Glenwood Foster to meet with Rodney Hudson to inform Southall Memorial of the board’s plans. The board also agreed, contingent on an inspection by Ms. Lambert, to try using the alternative space at the present location for the November election to see how it functions.
No firm change of precinct was adopted at the meeting; the decision to test the alternative space depends on Ms. Lambert’s inspection and subsequent confirmation that the room meets voting-location needs.
