Summary
Charlotte County Electoral Board voted unanimously to have DemTech prepare electronic poll books for use in the November election after demonstrations found DemTech compatible with the board’s systems and a competitor incompatible with the county’s Windows computers.
The Charlotte County Electoral Board voted Sept. 4 to have DemTech prepare electronic poll books for use in the November election.
Ms. Lambert updated the board on her research and demonstrations of electronic poll book units and reported that members were satisfied that the DemTech unit would meet the county’s needs. She said another vendor, No-Ink, would not be viable because its equipment only operates on Apple platforms and Charlotte County’s computers run Windows. On a motion by Lawrence Clark, seconded by Robert Bradner, the board unanimously authorized the DemTech bidder to ready machines for the November election.
The board recorded that the DemTech bid fits within the fiscal parameters in the current budget and that vendor-provided training for election officers is included in the DemTech package. Ms. Lambert said she will notify the board when training is scheduled and will announce Logic and Accuracy testing planned for Sept. 19 so political parties may send representatives.
The board’s action formalizes preparations for electronic poll books in time for the November election and sets a schedule for testing and training in the weeks ahead.
