The council also approved multiple Fire Department purchases: uniforms from Big Daddy Stitches for $1,710 (budgeted 01-514-4700), janitorial supplies from Sam's Club not to exceed $2,000 (budgeted 01-514-2100), travel and conference expenses for EMS Lieutenant Almond in Orange Beach not to exceed $1,600 (budgeted 01-514-1500), and bay door repair by R&L Door Services for $600 (budgeted 01-514-4900).
Park and Recreation items approved included a water-line repair at the city park (Joiner Plumbing, $744, budgeted 01-551-1000) and a separate public-works authorization for water-line repairs at the park (Joiner Plumbing, $4,100, budgeted to Park and Rec Grounds Maintenance 01-551-1000).
The council approved intergovernmental agreements with the St. Clair County Commission: a central-dispatching contract for $118,407.95 (a recorded 5% increase of $5,638.47 from the prior amount), an annual EMA payment of $6,500 (no increase), and a Drug Enforcement Unit contract for $15,000 (no increase). The council also approved a resolution to join the National Fitness Campaign and Blue Cross Blue Shield to implement an outdoor Fitness Court program and appointed Brett Staggs to the Planning Commission.
Each procurement and contract was moved, seconded and recorded as AYE by all present. The minutes record no dissenting votes or public opposition on these items. Mayor Joe Lee closed the meeting at 6:36 p.m.
