Belgrade board introduces Jordan Green as new parks director, outlines staffing and grant priorities

Jordan Green, who identified himself at the meeting as the district’s new parks director, told the Belgrade Regional Parks, Trails and Recreation District board he has spent his first days meeting department staff and local officials and is prioritizing staffing, grants and regional partnerships.
"My name is Jordan Green. It's a pleasure to meet all of you," he said, describing five crew members he met and plans to fill a sixth position later in the year to bring staffing to full strength and begin training. He said the parks crew has individual projects they want to pursue and that he plans to "empower people to pursue passion projects" while focusing on larger capital work.
Jordan outlined his past work in Deer Lodge, where he helped secure a grant to create a tree inventory and management plan, and said he has already reached out to the Montana Urban and Community Forestry Association to explore a similar urban-forest effort for Belgrade. He said he will lean on regional contacts, including Rails-to-Trails groups, to explore interconnected trail systems in the Gallatin Valley.
Greg (staff member) urged the board to support the new director. "I really want to, encourage you to, support Jordan, his experience in carrying out these larger projects," Greg said, noting Jordan’s grant experience and relationships across state agencies.
Jordan also described routine maintenance priorities and recent community programming: staff have been repairing and repainting benches, preparing sidewalks to reduce ice and ran a painting event at the senior center that drew about 21 attendees. He said the splash park remains incomplete because a specialized concrete contractor has postponed work, and staff continue to coordinate that final task.
The board asked for ongoing updates and Jordan offered to meet individually with members and community stakeholders. The district did not set a formal vote or deadline during the introduction; next substantive follow-ups will be staffing progress, tree-inventory grant work and trail partnership outreach.
