Council notes seven open permits and flags WUI map, building-material requirements

Scott Merryweather reported that he is attempting to obtain documents to take over leadership of the Planning Commission from Diana Duer. Matt Hermann told the council there are seven open building permits; Diana Duer is waiting for an assessment from the building inspector regarding a remodel at her home.
Council members discussed the town's status on the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) map provided by the Division of Forestry (FFSL). Mayor Greg Harrigan noted that Interlaken has not yet adopted the WUI map and emphasized the need to review state code building-material requirements that flow from that map. The council observed that new homes would be affected by state requirements and asked whether limits might be placed on remodels.
No formal adoption or specific regulatory change took place at the Jan. 27 meeting; the council identified the WUI mapping and building-material requirements as items needing further study and potential future action.
