During its Dec. 2 meeting, the Ferron City Planning and Zoning Commission identified administrative inconsistencies in the city’s business-license renewal materials and raised concerns about unclear annexation procedures, including sewer-connection requirements.
Chair Terrance Bell told commissioners that the renewal letter the city sends contains information that differs from the municipal code, and he said the business license code itself needs to be rewritten. Commissioners discussed the need for a written office procedure for following up with businesses that fail to renew; the commission deferred a final policy decision and requested further discussion with the mayor and City Council.
On annexation, commissioners described the city’s current procedures as unclear and noted sewer connections as an outstanding technical question. Chair Bell said he would work with Todd Thorne to develop clearer annexation procedures and recommended the city adopt an annexation plan.
No formal motions adopting new administrative policy or annexation rules were recorded in the minutes. The commission treated both items as topics for further staff work and council discussion.
