Rodeo Arena footings poured; city fire marshal ruling may add costly change order as county discusses staffing timeline

Cody Cupp, listed in the meeting minutes as attending, told the board that footings for the Rodeo Arena are being poured and that the project is running a couple of days behind schedule. He said revised plans have been submitted to the city and that because the project was self-permitted the City Fire Marshal overruled the County Fire Marshal on the type of pipe required to connect to city water; that ruling is likely to produce a costly change order.
The board discussed staffing for solid waste and related projects. Patti Staceyo reported the Project Manager position has been reposted with a 3% cost-of-living adjustment, currently has four applicants and will close next week. Minutes note a comparable city position starting at $100,000 was discussed during calibration. Patti’s last scheduled workday with the county is Oct. 2, 2026; minutes record plans to post the vacancy around April and target a June/July hire to allow overlap before she retires.
The board also agreed it was not opposed to moving back to the original commissioners’ office space behind the auditorium and directed staff to schedule a walk-through and return with a recommendation. In other business the minutes record that the Bowling Alley project is showing progress and that lanes should be installed this month.
