The Charlevoix County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 11 authorized the Parks Director to purchase a snowplow from Waters Equipment Company for $10,117.78 and tabled a proposed parks-and-trails logo until the March 11, 2026 meeting.
The snowplow award followed a bid review (lowest recommended bid $10,117.78 from Waters Equipment Company) and was authorized after a roll-call vote. The proposed Parks Department logo (resolution #26-018) was tabled to allow other departments to submit alternative designs.
County Administrator Kevin Shepard reported the county is gathering information about the Beaver Island Lighthouse and an adjacent tower owned by CCE and said the Building & Grounds Committee requested an update from River Caddis; staff are working to schedule that update for a future full-board meeting. Shepard also said the county received 12 requests for Parks Millage funding totaling approximately $100,000.
The board took no additional action on the lighthouse or millage requests at the meeting; those items will return to committee or a future board agenda for further consideration.
