County approves Dutch Ed Lane reconstruction contract, Notice to Proceed set for March 16; orders solar speed signs

FREMONT COUNTY — Commissioners voted unanimously on Feb. 17 to approve a contract with Alexander Excavation, Inc. for the Dutch Ed Lane Reconstruction Project and approved a Notice to Proceed with a start date of March 16, 2026.
Transportation Administrative Assistant Jill Johnson and Casey Jones of DOWL Engineering presented the contract and asked the board to authorize the work. Michael Jones moved to approve the agreement with Alexander Excavation; Ron Fabrizius seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Johnson also presented a bid to buy two solar-powered flashing speed feedback signs for Hillcrest Drive. She said a prior procurement cost $9,316 for units purchased for Atlantic City and that the Road Construction safety budget had been set at $10,000 but already incurred approximately $15,000 because of theft, removal and graffiti. The board approved a $9,500 bid from Newman Signs, Inc., to be paid from LATC funds (motion: Michael Jones; second: Ron Fabrizius).
