Planning commission approves business licenses, appoints chairman and sets meeting schedule

At the Feb. 3 meeting the Ballard Planning Commission handled several administrative items including local business licensing, an access update and leadership appointments.
Levi Bateman called to say he would delay starting a U-Haul location and would not take a Ballard business license until his Duchesne County location is ready. Jake Harward presented a C-CAN plan to rent and sell shipping containers from a leased location; the board agreed he could move forward with obtaining a local business license. Kent Campbell said his Pump Shop is a temporary, single-person home-based pump-repair operation with no employees or incoming customers; the commission approved a business license.
On a separate agenda item, Joe Garcia updated the commission on the conditional CUP highway access requirements: he reported having met with UDOT, which recommended engineered acceleration and deceleration lanes; Civco is preparing the design and expects to deliver it by Feb. 16. Commissioners noted the CUP’s conditional approval tied to roadway improvements and suggested follow-up coordination with City Council as the design and improvements proceed.
Board Member Mark Redmond moved to appoint Joe Allred as Chairman; Steve Collins seconded and the motion passed. The commission also voted to continue meeting on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
