Planning commission approves stricter penalties in travel-trailer ordinance revision

The Ballard Planning Commission on Feb. 3 voted to adopt revisions to Title 15.11.210 governing travel trailers, truck campers and motor homes on private property.
Chairman Joe Allred introduced the proposed amendment, which adds enforcement mechanisms and penalties for property owners who permit violations. Under the revised language, an owner or occupier who does not correct a violation within 30 days of notice may be charged with a Class C misdemeanor. The minutes state the offense carries a maximum fine of $700 and a possible jail term of up to 90 days; enforcement responsibility was identified as Uintah County law enforcement.
Board Member Steve Collins moved to approve the revision; Kay Burgess seconded and the motion passed with commission members present. The commission’s action authorizes the amended enforcement provisions; any prosecution or citation would proceed under state law and local enforcement practice.
