Charlotte County Electoral Board conducts ballot selection for Risk Limiting Audit; sampled ballots show Trump–Pence

The Charlotte County Electoral Board met at the Clerk of the Circuit Court Building on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, to perform the ballot-selection step of a Risk Limiting Audit, and read aloud the contents of two randomly selected ballots. Lawrence Clark, chairman of the board, called the meeting to order.
Eric Goode, the interim registrar, explained that the Department of Elections had selected the precincts and ballots to be examined using a random-seed process and introduced the audit board assistants who would help with the audit. Present at the meeting were Chairman Lawrence Clark, Vice Chairman Warren Browning, Secretary Glenwood Foster, Interim Registrar Eric Goode, audit-board members Dorothea Knott and Jordan Morris, and Elizabeth Baldwin as an observer for the Clerk of the Court.
The board announced the first sampled ballot: Wyliesburg/Red Oak precinct, bag 1, ballot number 445. The readout recorded votes on that ballot as President/Vice President — Trump/Pence and U.S. Senate — Warner. The second sampled ballot was from the Central Absentee Precinct (CAP), bag 7, ballot number 371; the readout recorded President/Vice President — Trump/Pence and U.S. Senate — Gade.
Goode thanked those who assisted with the selection. Vice Chairman Warren Browning moved to adjourn; Secretary Glenwood Foster seconded the motion, which carried without dissenting vote. The meeting ended after the board completed the announced ballot selections.
The ballot readouts and the audit procedures were presented as part of the Risk Limiting Audit process conducted under the Department of Elections' random-seed selection; no additional votes or policy decisions were recorded at the meeting.
