The Oneida County Human Services Committee on Feb. 9 rescinded a Feb. 4 resolution that would have appointed a Veteran Services Officer and approved an updated resolution to elect the position, the committee recorded in minutes of the meeting held at the County Board Room of the Oneida County Courthouse.
Hartman, a staff member, told the committee the Feb. 4 resolution “did not follow the language set in state statute” and that under that statute “the Veteran Services Officer must be elected by the board, not appointed,” and that additional language was needed regarding the length of the term. Chairman Robb Jensen moved to rescind the prior resolution; Dan Hess seconded. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays, with Angie Koch, Miranda Gavrilescu and Debbie Condado absent.
After rescinding the earlier measure, Hartman summarized edits made to the resolution to conform to the statutory requirement. Hartman stated the effective date and wages in the revised resolution remained the same as previously proposed; the minutes do not specify the exact effective date or wage amounts. Dan Hess moved to approve the updated resolution to elect the Veteran Services Officer; Steven Schreier seconded. The committee voted 6-0 (three absent) in favor.
