The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee covered a range of departmental and zoning matters at its Feb. 18 meeting; aside from the conditional use permit approval and the POWTS motion, most items were for discussion only.
The committee tabled consideration of retroactive tourist rooming house administrative review permits (ARPs). Staff presented background on Conditional Use Permit #2400017 at 7509 USH 51 in the Town of Minocqua, and the committee provided direction to Director Karl Jennrich to continue enforcement actions; no formal vote was recorded. Committee members discussed whether to permit service-type businesses in Zoning District #4 (Residential and Farming) and indicated they were not in favor of allowing those uses in that district, noting such uses are allowed in other districts.
Staff also reviewed the Department of Safety & Professional Services’ 2025 audit of Oneida County, presented a Workers Compensation flow chart for informational purposes, and summarized permit activity and revenue figures. The committee discussed prioritization of the Planning & Zoning Department’s 2026 projects. The minutes list no refunds and record that future meeting dates were set for Feb. 24 and March 4, 2026. The meeting adjourned at 1:53 p.m.
