The Oneida County Planning & Development Committee on Feb. 18 approved a conditional use permit allowing applicant and proposed owner Josh Hunt to operate a contractor storage yard and professional roofing and chimney service business at 4243 Back Country Road in the Town of Cassian.
The committee heard a staff presentation from Land Use Specialist Scott Ridderbusch and a report from Planning & Zoning Director Karl Jennrich. Ridderbusch read the project report into the record, noted that the Notice of Public Hearing was posted Jan. 29 and published in the Northwoods River News on Feb. 3 and Feb. 10, and summarized input received: one written public comment and correspondence from the Town of Cassian are in the file. Vice Chair Dan Hess opened the public portion; applicant Josh Hunt spoke.
Staff recommended seven conditions on the conditional use permit, including that the nature and extent of the use not change from the application; signage conform to Oneida County Zoning and Shoreland Protection Ordinance section 9.78 with required sign permits; parking comply with section 9.77; any installed lighting be downcast and shielded; dumpsters be screened and materials recycled as required; required town/county/state permits and state-approved plans be obtained prior to construction; and outdoor storage be confined to designated areas on the site plan.
Following the hearing, Bob Almekinder moved and Mitchell Ives seconded a motion to approve Item #6 on the agenda (the conditional use permit) with the listed conditions. The motion carried with all members present voting "Aye." Public commenters recorded in the minutes were Eric Rempala, Steve Zunker and Eric Borchardt.
The permit approval is subject to the stated conditions and required permits; staff noted that compliance with site plans and permit requirements will be required before any construction or expanded storage begins.
