The Erie County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 25 unanimously adopted a package of resolutions approving budget changes, contracts and personnel actions and recorded a retirement certificate earlier in the meeting.
On motions carried by roll call with all aye votes, the Board approved minutes for Feb. 11, 18 and 23; adopted a resolution supporting Western Reserve Land Conservancy’s application to the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Local Agriculture Easement Purchase Program on behalf of James and Mary Lou Neill (Resolution #26-46); and authorized Then-and-Now payments pursuant to O.R.C. 5705.41(d)1 to Wilkes & Company, Inc. and SRM Concrete, LLC (#26-47).
The Board also directed the County Auditor to make a budget modification for the CHIP 2023 Fund (#26-48) and to make budget modifications and a supplemental appropriation for the Erie County Sewer Fund and Water District Fund (#26-49). The commissioners adopted an addendum to the Corso’s Flower and Garden Center contract, extending lawn care and grounds maintenance through Nov. 15, 2026, and later approved a revised auditor’s certificate adding $7,500 for snow and ice removal services.
Two agreements with ADS, LLC were approved for a temporary flow metering project for the Department of Environmental Services and for sewer master meters (#26-51, #26-52). The Board also adopted a resolution executing Then-and-Now certification as presented by the County Auditor (#26-53), ratified an agreement with AFSCME Ohio Council 8, Local 3616 for Job and Family Services staff (#26-54), and entered into a contract with Cornerstone Risk Solutions, LLC to provide Phase 1 consulting for the county group health insurance program (#26-55).
In other business the Board approved two requests for proposals — one for a used or newer model roll-off truck for the Erie County Landfill and one for a new Ford F600 4x4 service truck for the Erie County Sewer Department — and authorized Finance to proceed with the RFP process. The commissioners also approved rate increases for Erie County Department of Job and Family Services non-bargaining and union employees effective March 1, 2026; approved a vacation carryover request for a Facilities Department employee, and approved a personnel action to hire Dianna Gonzales as PRN RN at The Meadows at Osborn Park effective March 4, 2026.
The Board authorized travel and training expenses: AJ Lill (ECDJFS) to attend the PCSAO Executive Membership/Board of Trustees meeting in Lewis Center on March 5 (estimated $115 registration); Caleb Stidham (Treasurer) to attend the 2026 CTAO Spring Conference in Columbus May 12–14 (estimated $412); and Eric Schippel (Engineer’s Office) to attend OSHA Competent Person Fall Training in Gibsonburg (estimated $1,100). Commissioners voiced no objection to a liquor license transfer for Thunderbird Hills Golf Club and received minutes and financial information from the Erie-Ottawa International Airport Authority. The meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
