Brooke County Commission accepts 911 resignation, approves minutes and routine expenditures

The Brooke County Commission met in adjourned session on Sept. 17, 2024, at the Brooke County Courthouse and unanimously accepted the resignation of Melissa Kafton from Brooke County 911, effective Sept. 14, 2024. The acceptance was approved by a motion from Commissioner Thomas R. Diserio and seconded by Commissioner Stacey Wise.
The commission opened with preliminaries, including a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, and recorded President Andrew J. Thomas, Commissioners Stacey Wise and Thomas R. Diserio, and Clerk Kimberly M. Barbetta as present.
Commissioner Thomas R. Diserio moved, with Commissioner Stacey Wise seconding, to approve the minutes from the Sept. 10, 2024 meeting; that motion passed unanimously. The commission then ordered a set of correspondences to be filed in the County Clerk’s Office.
The body approved payroll withholdings and multiple county fund checks. Noted payments included General County Fund checks CKS 31701–31734 for $215,135.51, Home Confinement CKS 3332–3337 for $76,009.94, Shelter Levy CKS 31691–31700 for $88,374.17, Ambulance CKS 1830 for $1,030.00, Excess Levy CKS 6756–6767 for $8,067.93, E911 Communication CKS 1813 for $476.70, Valuation checks CKS 1937–1939 for $716.92, CKS 2194–2195 for $192.53, Judicial Annex Fund CKS 263 for $1,096.38, and payroll withholding CKS 31687–31689 for $510.00.
The commission also received a letter from Terry Stewart requesting reappointment to the Hammond Public Service District Water Board for a term expiring Sept. 30, 2024; the commission agreed to allow two weeks for any other interested applicants to come forward. No formal appointment or vote on that reappointment was recorded during the session.
A motion to adjourn, made by Commissioner Stacey Wise, passed unanimously and the commission adjourned.
