Brooke County Commission approves hires, EMS budget transfer and BDC contribution

The Brooke County Commission met in adjourned session Oct. 22, 2024, at the Brooke County Courthouse and unanimously approved a slate of routine items including personnel hires, a small EMS budget transfer and a vendor maintenance agreement.
Commissioner Thomas R. Diserio moved and Commissioner Stacey Wise seconded multiple motions that were passed without recorded opposition. The Commission approved the minutes from its Oct. 15 meeting and an in-house Ambulance Service (EMS) budget transfer of $6,827.09 described as a warranty reimbursement for an ambulance engine.
The Commission also approved a scheduled maintenance agreement with Casto Technical Services for the new EMS building at a discounted cost of $1,422.96 and authorized a resolution to contribute $39,675.00 annually to the Business Development Corporation.
On personnel matters, the panel approved hiring David Holden as a part‑time Property Compliance Officer effective Nov. 15, 2024, at a pay rate of $19.00 per hour; the appointment is pending a drug screening and background check. The Commission further approved a request from 911 Director Christina White to hire Harlee J. Hildreth for a full‑time 911 position effective Nov. 1, 2024, pending required screens, and approved Sheriff Beatty’s request to hire Jaetin Popish as a Brooke County deputy (non‑certified) with an effective date of Nov. 1, 2024.
The Commission recorded the early voting schedule for Oct. 23–Nov. 2, 2024 (including both Saturdays, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.), ordered the meeting correspondence to be filed in the County Clerk’s Office, approved invoices and vouchers with checks issued across multiple funds (General County Fund, Dog, E‑911 Communications, Ambulance Service, Shelter Levy, Valuation, Business Development and Judicial Annex Fund), and then adjourned.
