The Brooke County Commission on Nov. 19 unanimously approved a set of routine actions including minutes, an appointment to a regional workforce board, a $1,400 annual service agreement, year-end pay adjustments and a conditional hire for emergency medical services.
Commissioner Thomas R. Diserio moved to approve the Nov. 14, 2024 minutes; Commissioner Stacey Wise seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The minutes record the same pair of motions for subsequent items unless otherwise noted.
The commission unanimously appointed Sharon Malin to the Northern Panhandle Workforce Development Board, Inc. to represent the State Wagner-Peyser Act sector from Brooke County for the term July 1, 2024–June 30, 2026. The minutes note Ms. Malin will fill the seat of Ms. Gouldsberry, who resigned Nov. 7, 2024.
The commission approved an annual service agreement with Advanced Communications Company (ACC) for $1,400 to cover service for the Probation Office and the Courthouse. The minutes list that contract amount and the covered locations but do not include contract number details in the record.
Officials also authorized end-of-year adjustments to pay: up to $3,000 for full-time employees and up to $1,500 for part-time employees. The minutes record the authorization as a one-time end-of-year adjustment; they do not spell out distribution criteria or funding source in the Nov. 19 entry.
Greg Moore, EMS/EMA Director, requested hiring Damian Rae as a part-time EMT beginning Dec. 1, 2024 at a rate of $21.50 per hour; the commission approved the hire contingent on background and drug screening. The minutes record the hire as pending those checks.
The minutes also record that John Schwertfeger submitted a letter of interest for a Brooke Hills Park Board opening; the commission directed the letter be filed with other letters of interest for four openings effective Jan. 1, 2025. Finally, invoices and vouchers across multiple county funds were approved and checks ordered written as listed in the minutes.
With no further business, Commissioner Stacey Wise moved to adjourn; the motion passed unanimously.
