The County Commission of Brooke County accepted two staff resignations, approved a new hire in the sheriff’s office and authorized routine county payments during its Dec. 3 adjourned meeting at the Courthouse.
Commissioner Thomas R. Diserio moved and Commissioner Stacey Wise seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the Nov. 26, 2024 meeting; the motion passed unanimously. The commission then accepted the resignation of Corporal Megan Himmelrick; her last day was Nov. 30, 2024. The commission also accepted the resignation of John Kyle, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, whose last day was Nov. 30, 2024.
The commission approved hiring Nathan Taylor as a full‑time certified deputy at an hourly rate of $26.35, with a start date of Dec. 16, 2024. The motion to hire Taylor was moved by Commissioner Diserio, seconded by Commissioner Wise and passed unanimously.
The commission approved invoices and ordered checks across several county funds, including General County Fund checks 32171–32196 for $282,694.53; E‑911 Communications checks 3382–3387 for $2,528.27; Ambulance Service checks 6855–6862 for $3,108.16; Shelter Levy checks 1973–1974 for $2,625.39; County Fire Protection check 1018 for $7,825.72; Valuation check 2212 for $36,887.79; Business Development check 369 for $19,837.50; and Judicial Annex checks 269–270 for $1,737.19. The minutes record the payments as approved in a single consent action.
The meeting adjourned after the items were handled. No further personnel actions or contested votes were recorded in the minutes.
