County considers $31,000 pickup and striping gear as heavy trucks accelerate Rulo‑area road wear

Darveau told the board that bid specifications are being completed for construction project C74-(2023-05) on 637 Avenue between 712 and 713 Road NW of Dawson, and for resurfacing work on the county’s so‑called “dustless highway.” The projects are in design/bid preparation, he said, and would proceed through the county’s usual contracting process.
Commissioners also discussed pavement condition on the hard‑surfaced road south of Rulo, noting what they described as a recent increase in heavy commercial truck traffic and a corresponding rapid deterioration of pavement in some areas. The board did not authorize a purchase or award a contract at the meeting; Darveau said staff will complete bid specifications and return with additional cost and procurement details.
The board took no formal vote on equipment purchases during the update; further action will depend on finalized specs and procurement steps.
