Riley said Julie Sweazy and Brittany Veto had already begun planning and that the group would meet in mid-May.
Riley framed the order around the fiscal and programmatic consequences of census undercount, noting federal funding allocations for education, transportation and elderly programs rely on census data. The executive order text circulated at the meeting directs the committee to consider Spencer County's unique characteristics and develop strategies to encourage all residents to complete census forms.
The court took no formal vote on the order during the meeting; Riley presented it as an administrative action he was executing for the county. The first meeting was scheduled for mid-May to begin outreach planning, including identifying hard-to-reach populations and local partners.
