Spencer County approves Fiscalsoft accounting software after vendor presentation

Spencer County Fiscal Court voted June 3 to buy Fiscalsoft financial software and services following a presentation from company representatives.

Fiscalsoft representatives Ryan and Jacob told the court the firm “serves 55 out of the 120 counties in Kentucky” and supplied license and support pricing. An order form in the meeting packet lists combined license fees of $39,985.00 for FiscalBooks, FiscalPay and FiscalExpress and an estimated support-subscription cost in the following fiscal year of roughly $10,400–$13,800 depending on products and factors cited by the vendor.

Why it matters: the software purchase would replace or consolidate local financial systems and carry an ongoing support cost that must be budgeted annually. The vendor’s materials note support is due by June 30 each year to remain eligible for updates.

Magistrate Brewer moved to proceed with Fiscalsoft; Magistrate Beaverson seconded. The motion passed with the court recording ayes from the majority and magistrates M. Moody and J. Moody voting nay.

County Judge Executive John Riley also addressed concerns raised earlier by the County Board of Elections about aging voting machines, saying the board should bring numbers if replacements are required. The elections board had reported machine malfunctions and storage-environment problems during recent elections.

Next steps: the court authorized contracting with Fiscalsoft and must budget for annual support-subscription fees if it proceeds; no dates for installation or go-live were recorded in the minutes.
