Spencer County names ethics commissioners and approves small purchases, animal-shelter grant

At its July 15 meeting, the Spencer County Fiscal Court made several routine appointments and purchases.
Judge Executive John Riley presented nominations to fill three vacancies on the county Ethics Commission; the court appointed Brian Bayers (term to 12/31/2021), Hope Pierce (term to 12/31/2019) and David Ladwig (term to 12/31/2020). The motion passed with two dissenting votes (Esq. M. Moody and Esq. J. Moody).
The court authorized the County Judge to apply for an animal-shelter grant; the motion to authorize the application passed. A motion to award a $17,170 roof contract for the animal shelter to RBK Construction failed for lack of a second.
The court approved purchase of an enclosed 18-foot "Homesteader" trailer for the Parks Department for $5,900 (one recorded 'nay') and approved front bumper guards for sheriff vehicles from L&W Emergency Equipment for $1,344.52 (motion passed). The sheriff's settlement for January–April months was presented as required; the packet contained the settlement amounts as presented to the court.
Finally, the court reviewed and approved invoices, expenditures, purchases and transfers listed in the register, and adjourned at about 8:50 p.m.
