Spencer County Fiscal Court delays decision on employee pay rates

Members of the Spencer County Fiscal Court debated proposed employee pay-rate changes during the June 21 special meeting and determined they did not have sufficient information to decide.
"I don't feel this is sufficient amount of time to make a decision at this time," Esquire J. Moody said, and Esquire Brewer added that the materials arrived too late: "I got this on Friday and to to ask us to make a decision isn't possible." Esquire Beaverson asked for a cover sheet showing current wages, proposed increases and the cost of benefits to compare with the recently adopted budget.
County Judge Executive John Riley proposed withdrawing the existing motions so staff could assemble the requested information. Both Esquire Beaverson and Esquire Travis withdrew their motions; Riley said the pay-rate proposals would be placed on the July 1 agenda for further consideration.
No formal vote on pay rates occurred at the special meeting.
