"I will entertain a motion to accept the budget as proposed," Judge Executive John Riley said before Esquire Beaverson moved to adopt and Esquire J. Moody seconded. After discussion, a roll-call vote showed all members present voting "aye," and the motion carried.
The judge executive told the court the proposed budget did not include enough funding for the County Attorney. "After the close out of the fiscal year, we will do a budget amendment to solve the problem," Riley said. The court did not specify the amendment amount at the meeting.
Why this matters: the adopted ordinance sets county spending levels and priorities for the coming fiscal year and authorizes staff to administer programs and contracts within the approved appropriations. Riley’s planned amendment will be the formal mechanism to correct the shortfall for the County Attorney’s line.
