Pike Road honors Teachers of the Year, School Board and national champion cheer team

Teachers of the Year recognized were Dawn Ellis (Pike Road Elementary School), Toni Jones (Pike Road Intermediate School), DaraLyn McColl (Pike Road Junior High School) and Zachary Warren (Pike Road High School); the council commended their leadership, excellence and service to students. The council also presented a proclamation recognizing School Board Appreciation Month and acknowledged board members Jennifer Gibbs, Jeff Dickey and Dr. Mona Hurston (Board President Ethan Taylor and Board Vice President Jan Johnson were noted as not in attendance).
The council additionally presented a proclamation to the Pike Road High School Traditional Cheer Team for being named Universal Cheerleader Association National Champions (Large Varsity Intermediate Division II). Mayor Stone read the coaches’ and team members’ names, and acknowledged head coach Sarah Marie Kelley and assistant coaches Raegan Pickens and Renee Dickerson. Council members offered brief comments following the recognitions.
