New adult services librarian outlines Dec. 13 Holiday Hoopla at Belgrade library

Emily Kingman, newly introduced as the Belgrade Community Library’s adult services librarian, told the advisory board she is planning a “Holiday Hoopla” event on Saturday, Dec. 13 that will offer crafts and activities for all ages and showcase library resources.
"I'm in the midst of planning for that," Kingman said. She described crafts for teens and children, maker-space activities using the library’s new Cricut cutter, a scavenger hunt with letters to unscramble for prizes, a popsicle-stick ornament craft and a planned team craft in the staff lounge. Kingman said organizers plan to package craft materials in separate bags with instructions so adults can participate while children craft nearby.
Kingman said the event will be a community collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, local shops and the school district; Pernia noted the foundation and a Kiwanis donation are supporting craft supplies. Kingman asked for volunteer help and feedback on logistics; board members suggested adding a Polaroid-style photo center for keepsake ornaments.
Kingman stressed the plans are preliminary and that the paper she distributed was an internal working document with no final times listed. She said the library aims to release flyers and the December event calendar soon and that the Foundation’s recent donations have helped underwrite supplies.
The advisory board thanked Kingman for her work and welcomed her to the community. The board will review final event details when the calendar is published.
