Judge cites asbestos in EMS house inspection; magistrate disputes the finding

County Judge Executive John Riley told the court that an inspection of the EMS house had identified asbestos in floor tiling and that the inspection by ServPro noted the presence of asbestos but that the inspector was not certified to oversee remediation. Riley said he could provide a copy of the inspection report to board members.
Esq. Travis challenged that conclusion, saying he believed asbestos had not been used in construction after 1978 and that the building in question was constructed later. He said he disputed the claim and requested clarification on who made the determination.
No remedial action was taken at the meeting, and the judge indicated he would supply the report for review. The court did not set a timeline for remediation or certification of an asbestos abatement contractor during the session.
