Spencer County Fiscal Court approves routine appointments, office purchases and vehicle repair estimate

SPENCER COUNTY, Ky. — At its Nov. 4 meeting, the Spencer County Fiscal Court approved several routine administrative items: appointments to the Extension District Board, office furnishings, a park overhead door, surplus property designation and a repair contract for a sheriff's vehicle.
The court appointed Linda Jeffiers to a first term and Bill Dunning to a second term on the Spencer County Extension District Board (motion by Esq. Travis; unanimous). The clerk's office was authorized to purchase seven ergonomic chairs for $1,939.00. The court approved replacing the Ray Jewell Park overhead door at a cost of $824.15 and declared the copier in the County Judge Executive's office surplus under KRS 67.0802.
Two repair estimates were presented for a damaged sheriff's vehicle: Jim Williams Body Shop quoted $756.20 and Daugherty's quoted $3,068.65. The court approved the lower estimate from Jim Williams Body Shop. The court also reviewed and approved the expenditures, invoices and transfers listed in the register across the general, road and jail funds.
Public comment included a resident, Roy Legaspi, urging the court to avoid hiring an additional employee for the Occupational Tax office and suggesting alternatives such as affidavits to businesses and a time-management review of current duties. Legaspi argued enforcement would not yield enough revenue to justify the added position.
The court entered executive session under KRS 61.815 and KRS 61.810 for personnel and litigation matters at 9:56 a.m. and returned at 10:48 a.m. The minutes record no public action resulting directly from that session.
