SPENCER COUNTY, Ky. — The Spencer County Fiscal Court voted Nov. 4 to rescind earlier motions about buying used radios and to approve an alternative plan to unify the county's emergency communications equipment.
The court's resolution authorizes the purchase of a used repeater and 36 used Model TK-5210 handheld radios from Sunny Communications for $13,250.00, 25 new Kenwood NX-5700 mobile radios and three NX-5700 dual-head mobile radios from J&N Electronics for $21,101.67, and programming software and an interface cable for $219.45. The court recorded a tally of four yes votes and one abstention on the resolution.
The change grew out of what the minutes describe as confusion over a prior order for used radios that proved unacceptable for the county's emergency responders. County Judge Executive John Riley explained the court wanted to "clear this up and move forward" with a formal resolution to rescind prior motions and approve the alternative plan.
Esq. Brewer moved to adopt the resolution and Esq. Beaverson seconded; the minutes record an abstention by Esq. M. Moody. The court's minutes state the resolution rescinds all previous motions related to the purchase of used and/or new radios and authorizes the purchases listed above.
