The court voted unanimously to adopt the 80/20 Bridge Project resolution and the related agreement and to authorize County Judge/Executive Mason Barnes to sign the documents. Separately, court members approved a resolution to use Rural Development Assistance and Appalachian Access Program (RDAAP) funds for a Franklin-Simpson (F-S) Industrial Authority project in an amount up to $16,000 and authorized the County Judge to sign. Judge Barnes said the Fiscal Court will tour the new county clerk building the following week and that the clerk's office plans to move Aug. 20, temporarily closing for one day to transfer software and operations. County Clerk Austin Johnson asked the public for patience during the move. The court also discussed interlocal inspection agreements with neighboring counties that could allow local inspectors to perform work currently routed to the state.
Public Works Director Bobby Groves reported a short, single-day closure will be needed to replace drainage tiles on Kummer Road between Schweizer and Andrews; the work is expected to take three to four hours on a morning in the last week of August. OEM Director Robert Palmer announced the Garden Spot run scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9. The court entered executive session later in the meeting and adjourned upon return.
