Simpson County Fiscal Court approves new server, backup monitoring and multiple budget transfers

The Simpson County Fiscal Court on Sept. 16 approved an information-technology upgrade and a series of fiscal moves, including transfers totaling more than $150,000 and routine bill payments.
Matt Folker of ISTT presented a proposal for a new county server; the court approved the ISTT server proposal on a motion by Magistrate Marty Chandler, seconded by Magistrate Jeffrey Burr. The court also approved ISTT monitoring and backup services, which were listed with an estimated cost of $300 per month.
The court approved an addendum to the “XYZ CDBG Agreement,” recorded on the agenda as an addendum to a contract, and confirmed the appointment of Charles McCutchen III to fill the unexpired term of Jerry Summers on the Planning & Zoning Board of Adjustments. The appointment was made by Magistrate Scott Poston and seconded by Magistrate Chandler.
Financial actions included approval of the August financial statement and two cash transfers: $16,140.77 from the Federal Grant Fund to the General Fund and $134,338 from the General Fund to the Jail Fund. The court also approved two budget-line transfers: $15,000 shifted from Building Inspector Salary (01-5115-102) to Building Inspector Part-Time (01-5115-179), and $5,000 moved from County Clerk Office Supplies (01-5010-445) to County Clerk Utilities (01-5010-578). All motions in these items were recorded as passed unanimously (Yes–All).
The court reviewed and approved a lengthy list of bills and claims. Vendor and payroll items were listed in the minutes; notable line items shown in the record include Comprehensive Correctional Care ($43,761.01), F–S Industrial Authority ($221,461.35), Don Franklin Auto ($41,415.00), and Kellwell Food Management ($21,801.57). The court approved payment of the bills as presented.
Judge/Executive Mason Barnes called the actions to a vote and the motions carried with unanimous approval. The court scheduled a special called meeting for Sept. 30 to discuss financial business and otherwise adjourned at 10:37 a.m.
