Simpson County OKs GeoQuest inducement and PILOT to bring steel fabrication to old Toya building

Simpson County Fiscal Court approved an inducement resolution and a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) agreement Dec. 16 to facilitate GeoQuest's planned move into the former Toya building.
Judge Mason Bames said the court authorized the inducement resolution (2025-12-16) and the PILOT and authorized his signature. The company was described during the meeting as performing steel fabrication for concrete pre-cast walls and other concrete construction materials.
Magistrate Scott Poston moved and Magistrate Marty Chandler seconded the measures; Poston, Chandler, Thurman and Judge Bames voted yes and Magistrate Jeffrey Burr recused himself. No details about the PILOT's term length, projected tax revenue impact or jobs commitments were provided during the meeting.
County staff said GeoQuest plans to occupy the old Toya building but did not provide employment or investment figures at the meeting. The motion authorizes county staff and the County Judge to execute the documents necessary to complete the agreement.
The court also approved a related inducement resolution associated with the project on the same vote.
