Fleming County Fiscal Court votes 3–2 to keep 2025 tax rates unchanged

Magistrate Donnie Fawns moved to keep the 2025 tax rates the same, and Magistrate Ray H. Money seconded. The court recorded a roll-call vote with Magistrate Blake Price, Magistrate Donnie Fawns and Magistrate Ray H. Money voting yes and Magistrates Kerri Marshall and Taylor Hunt voting no. The motion carried.
The approved rates are 15 cents per $100 of assessed value for real property, 15 cents per $100 for personal property and 16 cents per $100 for motor vehicles. An earlier motion by Magistrate Taylor Hunt to accept a compensating tax rate was recorded but received no action at the special meeting.
County Judge/Executive Sims called the special session to order at 8:30 a.m. and Fiscal Court Clerk Tammy L. Gray conducted roll call. The court noted a public hearing on the proposed 2025 tax rates is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Fleming County Courthouse during the regular Fiscal Court meeting.
The vote followed routine business on the agenda. The decision to maintain existing rates means no immediate change in the millage rate county property and vehicle owners will see on 2025 bills; the court did not adopt any new levy amounts at the meeting.
