Sauk County supervisors review draft strategic plan; staff cite strong survey response

BARABOO, Wis. — Sauk County supervisors on Feb. 12 heard a presentation on a draft countywide strategic plan and asked staff for clarifications about elements of the document.

Administrator Lisa Wilson introduced the presentation at a Committee of the Whole meeting at the West Square Building and said county staff and residents had contributed to the planning process. "We had an excellent response rate, with very in-depth thoughts and ideas," Wilson said, noting department heads and staff helped identify strategies and goals.

Senior Planner Cassandra Fowler then walked the board through the draft strategic plan prepared in collaboration with consultants from The Lakota Group. Consultants Siraj Asfahani and Hannah Kroll introduced themselves virtually and participated in the presentation.

Supervisors posed questions about points in the document; Fowler and Wilson answered and provided additional information and clarifications during the discussion. The meeting record indicates supervisors questioned some aspects of the draft and staff offered responses but does not record detailed vote counts on any substantive decisions.

Routine business at the meeting included a motion by Supervisor Klitzke, seconded by Supervisor Clemens, to adopt the agenda; the motion "carried unanimously" as recorded in the minutes.
