Salem swears in new treasurer, updates bank signers and approves trustees, dispatch alternate and bills

At its Feb. 18 meeting the Salem City Council completed several administrative actions: Robyn Mortensen was appointed and sworn in as Salem City Treasurer, the council updated Alta Bank account signers to add Mortensen and remove retiring Treasurer Tammy Beck, appointed Ben Ferry and Matt Rasband as trustees for the Fields Estate PID, and designated Chief Greg Gurney as the alternate representative to the Utah Valley Dispatch (Central Utah 911) board. Council also approved the Feb. 4, 2026 meeting minutes and authorized payment of bills totaling $830,894.23.
Mayor Cristy Simons presented a plaque of appreciation to retiring Treasurer Tammy Beck, who ends 15 years of service on Feb. 27. City Recorder Jeffrey Nielson administered the Utah oath of office to Robyn Mortensen following a council motion to appoint her; the motion carried 5–0.
Council moved to remove Tammy Beck and add Robyn Mortensen as approved signers on the City’s Alta Bank account. The Fields Estate PID trustee appointments (Ben Ferry as Trustee 2 and Matt Rasband as Trustee 3) were presented by City Manager Matt Marziale and approved by the council. The council also approved Chief Greg Gurney as the city’s alternate on the Central Utah 911 board following the retirement of the prior alternate.
Motions for the appointments, bank-signature changes, minutes and bills were each approved by unanimous vote.
